ARRA Project (WBS)#: LACAP0420000
Project Title: Admin Site Storage Buildings
Index Map Locator #: 54
State: Oregon
Unit: BLM - Vale District
Description:
The storage buildings are to be located at the Rome and Minam launch sites. The Rome site is located 35 miles west of Jordan Valley, Oregon; while the Minam site is located at Minim, Oregon, 15 miles northeast of Elgin, Oregon. The Rome and Minam launch sites are public contact points for management of the Owyhee and Grande Ronde Wild and Scenic Rivers program.
Work will consist of constructing concrete foundations for each building and includes installation of the structures on those foundations. Contracts for the construction of the concrete foundations and erection of the two buildings have been developed for each site. The foundation area for the Rome building will be 1,500 square feet, and the Minam building covers 2,300 square feet.
Recovery Act Funding:
These projects are anticipated to take approximately three months each to construct, and will employ three to five people each.
The Rome building will be constructed during the summer of 2009, and the Minam building will be constructed during the summer of 2010.
Benefits:
These facilities will provide staff secure and adequate storage areas for River Program supplies and equipment. Currently, personnel are required to store materials in on site trailers for most of the year. Steel storage buildings, for both sites, have been acquired through GSA contracting but cannot be erected until concrete foundations are constructed.
