The Bureau of Land Management is now accepting Round 11 nominations for projects authorized by the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act of 1998 (SNPLMA, Public Law 105-263, as amended), in the following categories:
- Environmentally Sensitive Land Acquisitions
- Capital Improvements
- Conservation Initiatives
- Parks, Trails, and Natural Areas
- Eastern Nevada Landscape Restoration Project (ENLRP)
- Hazardous Fuels Reduction and Wildfire Prevention
Due to dramatically slowing land sales and falling interest earned on funds in the Special Account, SNPLMA funds available for Round 11 are significantly lower than previous rounds. Therefore, only two nomination submissions per entity per category will be allowed. The only exception to this will be in the Hazardous Fuels category where eligible areas are managed by two different Forest Service regions. The Forest Service Region 4 will be allowed to submit two nominations which can be for projects on lands in the Carson Range in Douglas and Washoe Counties and Carson City, or on lands in the Spring Mountains eligible areas in Nevada. The Forest Service Region 5 (Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit) will be allowed to submit two nominations for projects in the Lake Tahoe Basin eligible area.
Washoe County’s eligibility to request PTNA funding to acquire land for and development of one regional park and natural area has been extended from 2011 through 2015.
Carson City is now eligible to nominate PTNA development projects within the Carson City boundary. The City is also eligible to nominate lands or interests in land that is both within the City boundary and within the Carson River 100-year flood plain for acquisition to develop a PTNA project.
