Kane Springs Valley Groundwater Development Project EIS Schedule

Scoping

The public comment period opened on March 31, 2006 and extended through May 1, 2006.  The Final Summary Scoping Report was prepared and made available to the public in September, 2006.

Draft EIS

From May 2006 through the spring of 2007, the Bureau of Land Management began work on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS).  This work included identifying the issues to be analyzed in the EIS, addressing data gaps, collecting data, formulating alternatives, and preparing the analysis.  The Draft EIS was made available for public review on June 22, 2007.  The Bureau of Land Management, in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, published the Notice of Availability for the Draft EIS in the Federal Register and local media, which began a 60-day public comment period (June 22, 2007 through August 20, 2007).

Final EIS

The Final EIS was made available to the public on February 8, 2008.  The Bureau of Land Management, in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, published the Notice of Availability for the Final EIS in the Federal Register and local media.  Comments on the Final EIS will be accepted through March 10, 2008.

Record of Decision

The Record of Decision will be signed no earlier than 30 days after the Final EIS is made available to the public, in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act.  The Record of Decision is expected to be signed and made available to the public in the spring of 2008.
