BLM Proposes to Sell 440 Acres in Clark County

Las Vegas – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Las Vegas Field Office, is seeking public comments on a proposal to sell 440.42 acres of public land in 28 parcels in Clark County, Nev.  The proposed competitive sale would be by sealed and oral bidding in accordance with the Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act (SNPLMA). A Notice of Realty Action published in the September 12, 2013 Federal Register opens a 30-day comment period which will close October 28.
The sale parcels are identified for disposal and have been analyzed through the Las Vegas Disposal Boundary Environmental Impact Statement of December 23, 2004. All resource issues have been identified and cleared. A Determination of National Environmental Policy Act Adequacy number DOI-BLM-NV-S010-2013-0093-DNA for this sale, which tiers to the 2004EIS, is available for public review and comment. The sale parcels lie within the approved disposal boundaries established in the Las Vegas RMP and ROD on October 5, 1998.
The parcels would be offered at not less than the fair market value. The fair market value for the parcels, the period to submit sealed-bids, and the sale date will be announced in local and online media at least 30 days prior to the sale.
In accordance with the SNPLMA, the funds generated by this proposed sale will be used throughout Nevada for projects such as the development of parks, trails, and natural areas, capital improvements on Federal lands, acquisition of environmentally sensitive land and Landscape restoration projects. Additionally, five percent of the revenue goes to the State of Nevada General Education Fund and 10 percent to the Southern Nevada Water Authority.
Written comments about the proposed sale, and the BLM’s Determination of National Environmental Policy Act Adequacy, should be mailed to: BLM, Las Vegas Field Office, 4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89130.
