BLM seeking public comment on proposed Conveyance of Public Land for the Virginia City Sewage Treatment Plan Expansion

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Carson City District-Sierra Front Field Office, is seeking public comment in response to a Notice of Realty Action (NORA) published in the Federal Register on October 25, 2013. The BLM is responding to Storey County’s application for a land patent of 12.38 acres under the Recreation and Public Purposes Act of 1926 for construction of upgrades to its wastewater treatment plant. The proposed upgrades would facilitate the Virginia City and Gold Hill Wastewater System Improvements Project. Public comments will be accepted for 45 days until December 9, 2013.

Interested parties may submit written comments involving the suitability of the land for expansion of the sewage treatment facility. Comments on the proposal are restricted to whether the land is physically suited for the proposed use, whether the use will maximize the future use or uses of the land, whether the use is consistent with local planning and zoning, or whether the use is consistent with state and Federal programs. Comments should be mailed to the attention of: Leon Thomas, Field Manager, Sierra Front Field Office, 5665 Morgan Mill Rd., Carson City, Nev. 89701.

The lands would not be conveyed to Storey County until at least 60 days after date of publication in the Federal Register.

Questions should be directed to Erik Pignata, Realty Specialist, at 775- 885-6110.
