BLM Seeks Public Comment to Lease Land to Las Vegas for a Public Park

LAS VEGAS – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Las Vegas Field Office is seeking public comment on a proposal to lease and/or subsequently convey approximately 12.5 acres of public land to the City of Las Vegas to build a public park located in the northwest area of Las Vegas, south of Kyle Canyon Road and west of Puli Drive.  The park would consist of group and single table picnic shelters, dog park, child splash pad play area, shaded child play area, meandering interpretive walking paths and trails, parking area, restrooms, and open space, as well as off-site improvements such as curb, gutter, sidewalk, and street lighting. Public comments will be accepted for a period of 45 days until Monday, August 19.

The Notice of Realty Action for a Recreation and Public Purposes Act (R&PP) Classification was published in the July 3 Federal Register.  Interested parties may submit written comments regarding the proposed decision for the R&PP application and the plan of development, whether the BLM followed proper administrative procedures in reaching the decision to lease and convey under the Act, or any other factor not directly related to the suitability of the land for R&PP use. The BLM’s environmental assessment is also available for review.

Written comments may be mailed to the BLM Las Vegas Field Manager, 4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89130, faxed to 775-515-5010, Attn: Rebecca L. Rury, or emailed to rrury@blm.gov. Before including your address, phone number, e-mail address, or other personal identifying information in your comment, you should be aware that your entire comment – including your personal identifying information – may be made publicly available at any time. While you can ask us in your comment to withhold your personal identifying information from public review, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to do so.
