Snow Creek Fire Update


Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013

Size:  100 acres    
Percent Contained:  0%
Resources:  1 heavy air tanker, 3 helicopters, 3 Single Engine Air Tankers (SEAT), and 8 smokejumpers.  On order: 1 Type 1 hand crew, 3 Type 2 hand crews.
Total Personnel:  20

Firefighters are fully suppressing the approximately 100-acre Snow Creek Fire located in the Goshute Canyon Wilderness, about 60 miles north of Ely or 15 miles northwest of Cherry Creek, Nev.  The lightning-ignited fire is burning in steep and rugged terrain, consuming white fir and mountain mahogany.  The fire poses no immediate threat to human life or property.

The fire was first reported at about 9:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 8.
