BLM Mojave-Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council to Hold March Meeting
Las Vegas – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will meet with the Mojave-Southern Great Basin Resource Advisory Council (RAC) Friday, March 16, at the BLM Southern Nevada District Office, 4701 N. Torrey Pines Dr., Las Vegas, Nev. The meeting is open to the public, and individuals have two opportunities to make public comments from 10:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The RAC advises and makes recommendations to the BLM on public land management. Discussion items will include, but are not limited to, renewable energy, transmission, recreation, etc. More information about the RAC is available at www.blm.gov/nv/st/en/res/resource_advisory/mojave-southern_grat.html.
The Mojave-Southern Great Basin RAC is made up of community members representing categories including: commercial and non-commercial uses, elected officials and state agencies, environmental, livestock, mining, Native American, and wild horse and burro.

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. In Fiscal Year 2012, activities on public lands generated $4.6 billion in revenue, much of which was shared with the States where the activities occurred. In addition, public lands contributed more than $112 billion to the U.S. economy and helped support more than 500,000 jobs.
