BLM Resource Advisory Councils to Meet in Carson City
Reno, Nev.--The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Nevada Resource Advisory Councils (RACs) will hold their annual joint meeting at the Gold Dust West in Carson City, on November 15-16, 2007. The meeting begins at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 15. The public is invited to attend.
The three Nevada RACs provide counsel and advice to the Secretary of the Interior, through the BLM staff and managers, on land use planning and management of public lands.
“Members of each council are interested publics who are interested in the management of our public lands for future generations,” said Nevada State Director Ron Wenker. “This annual meeting gives all members an excellent opportunity to visit with their counterparts from the other two RACs, to ask BLM management questions and to get an overview of priorities and challenges for the upcoming year.”
A public comment period will be held at 4:30 p.m. on November 15. This forum provides an opportunity for people to ask questions of the citizen-based advisory council or to make comments that may assist RACs in their planning efforts.
The three RACs will meet separately Friday morning at 7:30 a.m. to elect a chair and vice-chair and select meeting dates and agenda topics for the coming year. The meeting agenda is posted at www.blm.gov/nv.
