Burning Man 2008 Information

The 2008 Burning Man Festival will be held on the playa of the Black Rock Desert from Monday August 25th through Monday September 1st (Labor Day).  Additionally the site of the event will be unavailable for public use starting Friday August 8th through Monday September 15th beginning with event setup and ending with cleanup.

BLM issued a 5 year Special Recreation Permit (SRP) to Black Rock City, LLC in 2006 for the event.  2008 is the third year of that permit.

The following documents are available for public inspection:

Special Stipulations (in addition to the standard stipulations on the SRP, 81 special stipulations are also included as part of the SRP)

The site of the event and surrounding public lands are closed to a variety of public uses before, during and after the event.  These closures are documented in a Closure Order which was published in the Federal Register on July 17th, 2008.  A Map containing the graphic look at same geographic area described in the closure order is also available.  Additionally the map also contains a summarized version of the actual closures.

The Five Year Operations Plan submitted by Black Rock City, LLC and referenced in the stipulations is also available.  Note: The ops plan has been edited to remove large graphics and comply with the federal privacy requirements.
