BLM Fire Stations in Southern NevadaBLM has three fire stations strategically located in the Southern Nevada District Office: Logandale, Pahrump and Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. All three stations consist of an engine bay, a small office/classroom area, helispot, supply storage and living quarters. During fire season, Pahrump and Logandale each host one BLM engine and Red Rock hosts two BLM engines. All fire stations are capable of housing additional resources during periods of high fire danger. The fire stations, which opened in 2004, were constructed to better ensure that BLM wildland fire personnel are located closer to potential fire ignitions and were funded by appropriated funds, BLM National Funding and Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act funds.
Pahrump Fire Station The Pahrump fire station sits on a slope between the town of Pahrump and the Spring Mountain range. The station has a commanding view of most of its response area. One Type 4 engine, staffed by five firefighters, is stationed in Pahrump during the fire season. Pahrump fire station’s primary response area is Pahrump (when requested to assist Nye County and the Town of Pahrump), BLM lands in the Pahrump Valley, Amargosa Valley, and on the west side of Spring Mountains National Recreation Area. Resources from this station are the closest BLM resource to respond to the Nevada Test Site and Nevada Test & Training Range when requested for wildland fire suppression.
Logandale Fire Station Logandale Fire Station is strategically located off Interstate I-15 at Exit 93. It is located just west of the Glendale Nevada Department of Transportation and Highway Patrol facility. One Type 4 Engine, staffed with five firefighters, is stationed in Logandale during fire season. The primary response area for Logandale fire station is Northeast Clark County including Gold Butte, the Sheep Range, Arrow Canyon, and southern Ely District BLM. The station’s helispot has supported fires for both Southern Nevada and Ely Districts of the BLM. The pad has also provided a safe landing spot for local volunteer fire department ambulance crews to transfer patients to air ambulances.
Red Rock Fire StationRed Rock is the largest station in the district. The engine bay at Red Rock is capable of housing six engines. An onsite classroom is available for fire training. Located off State Route 159 near the Red Rock Campground, it is only minutes away from the 215 Beltway and Las Vegas. Two Type 4 engines, staffed by 10 firefighters, are stationed in Red Rock during the fire season. The primary response area for the Red Rock fire station is Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area, east side of Spring Mountains National Recreation Area and Sandy Valley.
