Public Meeting to be held in Beatty on Amargosa Solar Project
Las Vegas, NV -- The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will hold an information meeting in Beatty about the Solar Millennium, LLC Solar Energy Project proposed for Amargosa Valley. The BLM is accepting comments for the preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Amargosa Farm Road Project. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 22, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Beatty Town Community Center, 100 A Avenue South.
The meeting, hosted by the BLM, Solar Millennium, LLC, and EPG, Inc., will combine an open house format with a brief formal presentation, followed by an opportunity for public comment. Public comments and questions will be used to develop a Draft EIS.
People interested in the Amargosa Farm Road Solar Project are encouraged to attend the meeting. The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land, the most of any Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. In Fiscal Year 2012, activities on public lands generated $4.6 billion in revenue, much of which was shared with the States where the activities occurred. In addition, public lands contributed more than $112 billion to the U.S. economy and helped support more than 500,000 jobs.
