Volunteers Sought for National Celebration

Las Vegas -- The Bureau of Land Management is seeking volunteers to help celebrate National Public Lands Day on September 17 in Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area and September 24 in Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

The volunteer efforts will focus on cleaning up shooting range debris, illegal roadside dumps, removing vehicles and removing graffiti.

The Sloan Canyon clean-up will be held off of Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson. The Red Rock clean-up will be held in Cottonwood Valley, south of Highway 160.

“These clean-ups are a great way for everyone who enjoys public lands to give back to the community,” said Jim Cribbs, Volunteer Coordinator for the BLM Las Vegas Field Office. “These two days are a tangible way to be a part of the legacy of the land and make a difference.”

National Public Lands Day is celebrated annually throughout the country by federal, state and
local organizations and agencies. This year the BLM is hosting more than 95 sites around the
nation.
