Meetings slated on study that will impact Southern Nevada land sales


Las Vegas - The Bureau of Land Management Las Vegas Field Office will host open houses followed by public hearings next week on the Las Vegas Valley Disposal Boundary Draft Environmental Impact Statement.


The Draft EIS assesses the potential environmental impacts on 46,700 acres resulting from the sale and potential uses and/or future development of these lands. The lands are within the disposal boundary created by the 1998 Southern Nevada Public Land Management Act and modified by the 2002 Clark County Conservation of Public Land and Natural Resources Act.

The public is invited to provide comments on the implementation alternatives and potential environmental impacts of the land disposal action at the hearings. The public hearings will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the following locations:
• October 18, 2004
BLM Las Vegas Field Office
4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive
• October 19, 2004
Henderson Convention Center
200 South Water Street
• October 20, 2004
North Las Vegas Library
2300 Civic Center Drive

The hearings will begin with an open house to allow the public to visit with BLM representatives. A brief presentation summarizing the alternatives and potential environmental impacts of the land disposal action will begin at 5:30 p.m. The BLM will hear comments following the presentation.
