BLM Seeks Volunteers for National Celebration

Las Vegas - The Bureau of Land Management is seeking volunteers to help celebrate National Public Lands Day at Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area (NCA). The all day event will be held Saturday, September 18, 2004, from 8a.m. to 4p.m. and hot dogs and chips will be served to all volunteers.

This is the first annual National Public Lands Day (NPLD) volunteer clean up at Sloan Canyon. The volunteer effort will focus on cleaning up shooting range debris, illegal roadside dumps, emoving vehicles, removing graffiti, and repairing a mine fence. The Sloan Canyon NCA is located on the southern boundary of the Las Vegas Valley near Henderson, NV.

National Public Lands Day is celebrated annually throughout the country by federal, state
and local organizations and agencies. This year the BLM is hosting more than 100 sites
around the nation on this 10th annual celebration of NPLD, and Sloan Canyon NCA is
one of eight celebrating NPLD in Nevada.

This is an opportunity to give back to the community. Be a part of the legacy of the land
and make a difference. Contact Jim Cribbs at the BLM Las Vegas Field Office to sign up
for this event. Call (702) 515-5234, or by email at james_cribbs@blm.gov. For more
information on Sloan Canyon NCA visit www.sloancanyon.org.
