BLM Auction Sells 13,300 Acres, Netting $47.5 Million
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005, in Mesquite, Nev., sold 13,300 acres of land in eight parcels, raising $47.5 million for wilderness planning and natural resource protection, and recreation and other opportunities in Lincoln County, Nev. In addition, 10-percent of the funds raised will go to Lincoln County and five-percent to the Nevada State General Education Fund.
Parcels offered for sale varied in size from 666 to 4,357 acres.
The 666-acre parcel sold for $3.2-million. The 4,357-acre parcel garnered $14.5-million.
A total of 44 bidders registered to bid on the parcels.
