BLM to Sell Pinyon-Juniper Firewood at Public Auction

Caliente, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will offer for sale five cut and stacked units of seasoned, mixed pinyon and juniper firewood at 9 a.m., Friday, Oct. 17. The auction will be conducted at the BLM Caliente Field Office, 1400 Front Street, in Caliente.

The minimum bid is $30 per cord.  Units vary in size from 4.5 to eight cords.  Separate bids must be placed for each unit.  The units are located at the Caliente city yard adjacent to the cemetery and can be viewed between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The firewood resulted from the Clover Mountains Ponderosa Pine Restoration Project, a pinyon-juniper tree-thinning project that protects the health of an approximately 1,000-acre stand of ponderosa pine in the Clover Mountains, about eight miles southeast of Caliente.  Sales proceeds will be used to perform future forest health improvement projects, district-wide.

For more information or to obtain bid forms, contact Kyle Teel, BLM fire ecologist, at (775) 726-8117 or kyle_teel@nv.blm.gov.
