BLM Nevada News BLM Seeks Public Comment on Proposed Horse Facility Ely, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Ely District is asking for the public’s comments on the Domestic Horse Facility Environmental Assessment (EA). The 15-day public comment period concludes at close of business, Friday, Aug. 29, 2008. Interested individuals should address all written comments to the BLM Ely District Office, HC 33 Box 33500, Ely, NV 89301. A public comment meeting is scheduled at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the BLM Ely District Office, 702 N. Industrial Way, in Ely. The Domestic Horse Facility EA is available on the Ely District website at http://www.blm.gov/nv/st/en/fo/ely_field_office.html. You may also visit www.blm.gov/nv and click on the Ely District. Paper copies are available at the district office. The proposed facility would improve efficiency and decrease costs. The facility would be sited on approximately eight acres of BLM-administered land adjacent to the industrial park in Ely and would provide a location for the maintenance and care of five to twelve BLM and Forest Service saddle horses. It would consist of four corrals with three-sided loafing sheds, a hay storage barn, riding and warm-up arena, working round corral, tack shed and parking for horse trailers and smaller equipment.
