BLM Nevada News ELY FIELD OFFICE NO. 2008-019 FOR RELEASE: Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007 CONTACT: Chris Hanefeld, (775) 289-1842; chris_hanefeld@nv.blm.gov BLM to Reclaim Golden Eagle and Ward Mine Sites The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Ely Field Office will reclaim the Golden Eagle and Ward mine sites, located in White Pine County, Nev. The Golden Eagle Mine is about 30 miles east of Ely. The Ward Mine is about 20 miles south of Ely. All personal property at the sites must be removed by Friday, Nov. 23, 2007, or it will be removed and scrapped, and the owner billed. The reclamation is a result of the 2001 Alta Gold Company bankruptcy. Funding for the reclamation is provided by the Restoration of Abandoned Mine Sites (RAMS) program.
