David E. Norman Science Fair Tests Limits Pictured: Bill Wilson, a BLM Ely Field Office employee and David E. Norman elementary school science fair judge, points to data collected by students entered in the annual competition. In the foreground at right is Melanie Peterson, a fellow field office employee and volunteer judge. David E. Norman elementary school students are it again – testing everything from paper towel strength to how fast a hamster runs. The school science fair is one of six held every year, district-wide. They culminate in the district finals, scheduled Tuesday through Thursday, Feb. 15-17, at the Bristlecone Convention Center. Students taking the top of their division at the district level, proceed to the regional competition scheduled in Reno, in mid-March. Parents and friends are invited to view the projects from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 17, at the convention center. For more information, contact Lisa Petersen, science fair coordinator for the White Pine School District, at (775) 289-4846. |
