Spring Clean With White Pine Green Up

Spring cleaning? Make White Pine Green Up part of your trash-tossing plans.

This innovative and unique program allows White Pine County residents to leave at the municipal landfill – absolutely free-of-charge – their old appliances, automobile tires, construction waste and scrap metal. Old car and truck batteries can be taken to either J & P Auto Parts or Wheeler Machinery Company – again, without charge.

A five-year pilot project, White Pine Green Up is entering its second year of operation. The project is a collaborative effort by the City of Ely, Nevada Division of Forestry, BLM and Forest Service.

To learn more about White Pine Green Up, call Rick Stork, City of Ely landfill supervisor, at (775) 289-1589, or Jeanette Matovich, BLM Ely Field Office environmental protection specialist, at (775) 289-1903.
