Local Contractors Needed For Fuels Reduction Projects

The Bureau of Land Management is looking for local contractors to help with fuels reduction projects, western wide.

“In particular, we’re looking for the area’s smaller business owners to participate,” Kim Ferguson, BLM Ely Field Office purchasing agent, said Wednesday.

Ferguson said the federal agency is again this year looking to contract a number of services related to wildland fuels reduction. Services to be contracted include labor, transportation, supplies and supervision, she said.

“The list includes pretty much anything related to reducing hazardous fuels build-ups,” said Ferguson.

Ferguson said anyone interested in bidding on a particular project should first obtain a copy of Solicitation Number NAR040048 at www.fedbizopps.gov. Potential bidders, she said, must be registered in the Contractor Central Registration database. They can register at www.ccr.gov, she said.

Ferguson advised interested contractors to attend a hazardous fuels reduction pre-proposal teleconference scheduled from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Thursday, March 11, at the BLM Ely Field Office. Pre-registration is required, she said.

To learn more, or to register, contact Kim Ferguson, BLM Ely Field Office purchasing agent, at (775) 289-1859, or at kim_ferguson@nv.blm.gov.
