Grazing permit for Nolan Shumway (274740) on the South Coal Valley (10120) and Black Bluff (10122) Allotments.

The purpose and need for the action is to fully process the renewal of the grazing permit for Nolan Shumway on the South Coal Valley (10120) and Black Bluff (10122) Allotments.  The permit authorizes Nolan Shumway to graze up to 67 cows from 03/01-5/15 and 9/1-2/28 for a total of 566 active animal unit months (AUM) of use on the South Coal Valley Allotment, and up to 10 cows from 3/1-5/15 and 9/1-2/28 for a total of 85 active AUMs on the Black Bluff Allotment.  The issuance of the term permit would be for a period of not more than 10 years.

An evaluation of the rangeland monitoring data and rangeland health will be conducted for the South Coal Valley and Black Bluff Allotments.  This data will be summarized in a standards determination document which will be available for public review at a later date.

The allotments are located 45 miles west of Caliente, Nevada in Coal Valley.  None of the allotments occur within wilderness areas.  The South Coal Valley Allotment encompasses 46,702 acres the Black Bluff Allotment encompasses 33,176 acres of BLM managed lands. General Location: The allotments occur entirely within the South East Coal Valley. All in Lincoln County, Nevada
