Glenn and Margaret Lane on Douglas Canyon, Preston, and Willow Springs Allotments
 
CURRENT GRAZING 
The purpose and need for the action is to fully process and renew the term grazing permit and reissue a permit for Glenn and Margaret Lane on the Douglas Canyon, Preston, and the Willow Springs Allotment. The issuance of the permit would be for an unset period not to exceed 10 years. The Douglas Canyon Allotment consists of 800 acres of private land and 11,422 acres under Bureau of Land Management administration. Preston allotment consists of 240 acres of private land and 10,250 acres under Bureau of Land Management administration and Willow Spring Seeding Allotment has 300 acres under Bureau of Land Management administration. The current permit allows Glenn and Margaret Lane to graze up to 64 cattle from 05/08 to 05/31 on the Preston allotment, up to 64 cattle from 06/09 to 08/30 on the Douglas Canyon Allotment, and up to 52 cattle from 08/31 to 10/06 on the Willow Spring Seeding. A total of 288 active AUMs are currently permitted. Potential changes could occur to the permit based upon a review of rangeland health standards. If changes are to be made, an Interdisciplinary Team (ID team) and public input will be solicited to assist in developing management guidelines for the term permit renewal process. An evaluation of the range monitoring data and rangeland health will be conducted for the Douglas Canyon, Preston, and the Willow Spring Seeding allotments. This data will be summarized in a Standards Determination Document. 
 
ALLOTMENT LOCATION / DESCRIPTION
The allotments are located in White Pine County approximately 50 miles southwest of Ely, Nevada within the Great Basin physiographic region. The Douglas Canyon Allotment is located at T. 12 N., R. 60 and 61 E. Sections: multiple sections. The Preston Allotment is located at T. 13 N. R. 60 E. Sections: multiple sections. The Willow Springs Seeding is located at T. 12 N. R. 61 E. Sections: multiple sections.
 
WILD HORSE HERD MANAGEMENT AREA 
The Douglas Canyon, Preston, and the Willow Springs Seeding Allotment are not located within a wild horse herd management area (HMA).
 
WILDLIFE 
This allotment is home to a diversity of wildlife. Elk and antelope use these allotments year round. Deer also can be found on the allotment throughout the year.  
 
SPECIAL STATUS SPECIES 
No special status species are located on the Douglas Canyon, Preston, and the Willow Springs Seeding Allotments.
