 Diffuse Knapweed

Centaurea diffusa L.

Diffuse knapweed is highly aggressive annual or short lived perennial. It is diffusely branched, grows 1 to 2 feet tall and has stems that are rough to the touch. The leaves are covered with fine hairs and are grayish green in color. The flowers are white to rose or sometimes a light purple. Flowering usually occurs from July to September. The bracts are tipped with a yellow, slender spine. The margins of the bracts are divided like the teeth of a comb.
