Training for wildland fire is a continuous and career long process in order to ensure our organizations are prepared for all types and complexities of wildland fire incidents. Along with our great cooperative working relationships, we also have a very active training program that encourages participation from all cooperating agencies and departments.
The links to the right will provide you with training information and opportunities from local, regional, and national providers. In addition to the links and training calendars listed here, the use of Staff Rides has also been a tremendous training tool and has allowed many wildland firefighters to develop lessons learned from past incidents occurring here in Northeast Nevada.
The Northeast Nevada Interagency Fire Management Program has also partnered with Great Basin College to offer the Great Basin College Wildland Fire Science Academy to be held in Elko, NV between May 27 – June 1, 2014. This academy will provide 100-300 level NWCG Certified wildland fire training to any interested and qualified wildland firefighter. For more information about the academy, including how to register for courses, please visit their website by clicking the link.
