Maverick Silver Amends Exploration Plan
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Wells Field Office has received an amendment to an exploration Plan of Operations from Maverick Silver, Inc., to expand their operations. The mine is in the Maverick Range about 60 miles southeast of Elko. The BLM is preparing an environmental assessment (EA) for the plan amendment and will accept public comments on the proposed plan until Oct. 14, 2008.
The Maverick Springs Exploration Project is an existing project that has a new operator who would like to expand the currently permitted 7.6 acres an additional 6 acres for a disturbance area of 13.6 acres. The new disturbance is related to road and drill pad construction and exploration drilling.
BLM prepared an EA for the currently permitted disturbance in May 2006. The amended exploration plan of operations and project maps may be viewed or downloaded from the BLM website at www.blm.gov/nv/st/en/fo/elko_field_office.html.
Written comments should be mailed to: Maverick Springs Exploration Project Coordinator, BLM Elko Field Office, 3900 Idaho Street, Elko, NV 89801, faxed to: (775) 753-0385, or e-mailed to: Frank_Bergwall@nv.blm.gov. For additional information call Frank Bergwall at (775) 753-0331.
