REWARD OFFERED FOR EQUIPMENT VANDALISM INFORMATION

A $500 reward is being offered for information leading to the prosecution of the individual(s) who tampered with a BLM rental tractor and drill seeder on the night of October 22, 2007. The incident occurred off the Bullion Road about 12 miles west of Elko.

“Apparently someone decided to take a joyride on a tractor,” said BLM Law Enforcement Ranger Carrie Pope. “We found the tractor and drill stuck in a draw and jackknifed. The seed in the drill seeders was dumped on the ground as well. It wasted a much-needed day getting everything back in order as the tractor and drill were being used to rehab burned lands from this year’s Marge Fire.”

Pope added that the BLM is very concerned about getting all the rehabilitation work done before winter. Senseless vandalism like this recent incident slows down our ability to reseed the land.

If you have any information, please contact the Elko County Sheriffs Office (775-777-2508) or Bureau of Land Management Law Enforcement (775-753-0207).
