RAINE FIRE CONTAINED

Elko, Nev. – Firefighters contain the last of the fires started over the weekend and brace for more lighting.

The Raine Fire about 18 miles south of Carlin is contained. The fire burned 1310 acres in sagebrush, grass and pinion/juniper. Forty-two fire fighters are currently on scene continuing to put out hot spots in the interior of the fire. The fire will be monitored for several days.

“We’ll have increased staffing over the Labor Day holiday weekend,” said BLM Fire Duty Officer Dylan Rader. “Thunder storms with lightning are forecasted through the weekend and many people will be in the backcountry taking advantage of this last summer holiday.”

Rader added that people are asked to be careful with campfires while enjoying Nevada’s great outdoors.

Fire restrictions remain in effect for all public lands in northeastern Nevada and all open burning is banned in Elko County.

To report wildfires call (775) 738-FIRE, (775) 748-4000, or 911.
