Update #11

PARTY FIRE CONTAINED AND NEW FIRE STARTS NEAR ELKO

Elko, Nev. – The Party Fire is 100% contained and the Second Chance Fire on the outskirts of Elko claimed a residence.

Fire crews are rehabbing dozer line and repairing fence damage caused by the Party Fire which burned approximately 3,500 acres seven miles west of Carlin, Nev.

The Second Chance Fire started off the Last Chance Road on the southeast edge of Elko Tuesday afternoon. The fire began as a structure fire and spread to public land. The structure was burned. Fire engines and crews from the City of Elko, Lee Engine Company, Nevada Division of Forestry, and Bureau of Land Management quickly responded.

The fire is currently estimated at 20 to 25 acres and fire fighters are getting it contained.
Plans are to work tonight until the fire is completely contained. Two helicopters and single engine air tankers were used. Two fire crews and equipment demobilizing from the Party Fire were quickly transferred to the Chance Fire. Currently there are 85 fire fighters on scene.

Fire restrictions remain in effect for all public lands in northeastern Nevada and all open burning is banned in Elko County.
