Bailey Fire, Update #3

FIREFIGHTERS MOPPING UP BAILEY FIRE

Elko, Nevada – Fire fighters are mopping up the human-caused fire which has burned 1,915 acres in Pine Valley about 30 miles south of Carlin, Nev.

The Bailey Fire started late Wednesday afternoon (June 20) and is burning in sagebrush and grass. The fire appears to be human caused and is under investigation. The fire is currently estimated at 80% contained and full containment is expected today. No injuries have been reported and no structures have been threatened.

“We will be releasing crews and engines back to their home units this today so they can be ready for other assignments.” said BLM Elko Interagency Dispatch Center Manager Bill Roach. “One hotshot crew and engine will remain to monitor the fire.”

Roach went on to comment that a Fire Weather Watch is forecasted for Saturday and the long-range forecast shows no relief from hot and dry. To report wildfires call (775) 738-FIRE, (775) 748-4000, or 911.
