WATCH OUT FOR FLOOD DAMAGED ROADS
Recent storms in northeastern Nevada are damaging roads. BLM is receiving reports from ranchers and agency employees that numerous roads in Elko and neighboring counties are being flooded by storms and spring runoff.
“We want to caution people to be careful when traveling off maintained roads and to be alert for sudden or unexpected road damage,” said BLM Elko Field Office Engineer Norm Rockwell. “Some culverts are washing out and soils are wet and extremely muddy. We’re asking people to delay any backcountry travel or recreation activities for a while until conditions are dry.”
“As soon as conditions allow, BLM will be out repairing and maintaining roads,” Rockwell concluded.
