WEATHER DELAYS SPRUCE MOUNTAIN PRESCRIBED FIRE

Heavy rains have delayed the planned prescribed fire of 1,000 acres on Spruce Mountain about 35 miles south of Wells, Nevada.
The planned 800-acre chaining project near Basco Springs on Spruce Mountain is still scheduled to begin on October 16 and could last until mid-November.
BLM Elko Field Office Fire Management Officer Joe Freeland commented, “The weather is always dicey this time of year and the weekend rains negated our ability to do the prescribed burn. We will re-evaluate burning conditions when the weather changes.”
For more information about this or other upcoming burning projects, contact Joe Freeland at the Elko BLM Office at (775) 753-0308.
