On Wednesday, March 15th, noon, two Elko County Volunteer Fire Departments will be given specialized fire fighting equipment. A fire engine and water tender will be turned over to the local fire departments by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Elko Field Office. The transfer will be at the BLM Carlin Fire Station, 103 Hamilton Street, Carlin, Nevada.
The Pine Valley Volunteer Fire Department received a refurbished fire engine and the Ruby Valley Volunteer Fire Department will receive a water tender.
The transfer of equipment is being done under the Rural Fire Assistance program, an ongoing effort to enhance the fire protection capabilities of rural fire districts, under the National Fire Plan.
Officials from the Pine Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Ruby Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Nevada Division of Forestry, and BLM will be on hand for the turnover.
