ILLEGAL DUMP NEAR CARLIN CLEANED UP

An illegal dump site on public lands about two miles northeast of Carlin was cleaned up by the BLM Ruby Mountain Hotshot Fire Crew last week.

BLM Ranger Jeff Miller commented, “This dump was reported to us last fall. It is about one half mile north of the Carlin Conservation Camp. It appeared to be an old dumping site as the trash had been there a while. Our BLM fire crew cleaned up the site in conjunction with the Carlin Cleanup Week.”

“The trash was spread over a quarter acre. In addition to this site, several fire crew members cleaned up garbage at Marys Wash west of Carlin. Between the two areas, we hauled off 8 pickup loads and 4 stake-side truck loads of trash to the Carlin Dump Transfer Station,” Miller concluded.

For more information about becoming involved with cleanup opportunities this summer, please contact BLM Law Enforcement at (775) 753-0306. To report illegal dumping, call Elko County Against Illegal Dumping (Elko Central Dispatch) at (775) 777-7300.
