CALIFORNIA TRAIL SITE FENCED
Elko’s future California Trail Center moved one step closer to construction with the completion of the site fencing. L& I Construction of Winnemucca, recently completed fencing the 40-acre site that will be the future home of the California Trail Center eight miles west of Elko.
Dave Jamiel, BLM Elko Acting Trail Center Manager, said, “Fencing may not seem like a major task, but it’s absolutely necessary. The next step will be the County’s construction of the access road to the site. The 40-acre parcel has to be fenced for the safety of the livestock and the equipment operators. The 40-acre parcel and road easement, which is surrounded by the Maggie Creek Ranch, was donated by the William Searle Family. “
“We’re hoping road construction will be completed by the end of the summer and we hope to go out for bid this fall for the contract to construct the building. We’re planning a series of activities this summer in celebration of the California Trail.”
