BLM SEEKS EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT RENTAL AGREEMENTS
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) may need to rent additional equipment for fire suppression and support activities during the upcoming wildland fire season. To help locate such equipment quickly during a fire emergency, the BLM Elko Field Office is soliciting Emergency Equipment Rental Agreements for a variety of equipment.
The deadline for signing the emergency agreements is May 27, 2005. All prior agreements with the BLM have expired so a new agreement will need to be signed for the 2005 fire season. The agreements are accepted by other federal and state agencies with similar emergency fire needs.
Leta Jim, BLM Contract Specialist said, “We need all sorts of equipment such as non-tactical water tenders, gray water trucks, potable water trucks, dozers and transports, refrigeration trailers, mechanic service trucks, sedans, pickups, stake side trucks, motor graders, excavators, skidders, packers and saddle stock, light towers, generators, portable toilets, refuse collection, mobile offices, ATV’s, pumps, and similar items. All equipment will be subject to a safety inspection before actual use, and all contractors and operators will receive a comprehensive safety briefing before equipment is used in an actual fire line situation.”
Individuals or companies interested in renting to the BLM on a call-when-needed basis and subject to equipment availability should contact Leta Jim, Contract Specialist, BLM Elko Field Office, 3900 East Idaho Street, Elko, NV 89801, or call (775) 753-0244.
