TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE PLANNED

Portions of the Tobar Road south of Wells, Nevada, will be closed during daylight
hours (Mondays through Thursdays) from about November 15th though December 3rd,
2004, weather permitting.
“BLM will be installing culverts in three locations on the Tobar Road about 11
miles southeast from the Tobar/U.S. 93 junction,” explained BLM Elko Field Office
Engineer Norm Rockwell.
The Tobar Road junction is about seven miles south of Wells, Nevada, on U.S.
Highway 93.
“We plan to close the road during the day while we work and then set it up so
people can drive around the work areas at night and on weekends,” added Rockwell.
“We’re increasing the size and number of culverts on the Tobar Road to allow for
additional capacity in the event of flooding or high water. We will also be increasing the
road width in the culvert areas for safety purposes. Although this will shut off
day-time access to the northeast portion of Spruce Mountain, people can still drive up from
the south and get into the area. We very much appreciate everyone’s cooperation and
regret the temporary inconvenience,” Rockwell concluded.
For more information, call Norm Rockwell at the BLM Elko Field Office (775) 753-
0200.
