WENDOVER TIRE CLEANUP PROJECT COMPLETED

The West Wendover Public Works Department recently cleaned up an illegal tire dump on
public lands about eight miles northwest of West Wendover.
BLM Elko Field Office Ranger Carrie Wostal explained, “This tire dump was first reported
last fall. There was no way to trace who left the tires there.”
“Tom Stratton, Director of the West Wendover Public Works Department graciously offered
to have city crews clean up the site,” continued Wostal. “Six men and three trucks from the Public
Works Department came out last week and hauled off all the tires. The tires were recycled at the
West Wendover landfill.”
Helen Hankins, BLM Elko Field Manager, commented, “We can’t thank the West
Wendover Public Works Department crews enough for this kind of assistance. This is an example
of people who truly care about public lands.”
