TOBAR ROAD OPEN
Portions of the Tobar Road south of Wells, Nevada, which were closed for
construction in November, are now open.
“We were able to get the new culverts installed at three locations on the Tobar Road
about 11 miles southeast from the Tobar/U.S. 93 junction,” explained BLM Elko Field
Office Engineer Norm Rockwell.
The Tobar Road junction is about seven miles south of Wells, Nevada, on U.S.
“We had planned to wrap up the project this year, but the snow and colder
temperatures have shut us down for the winter. All that’s left to finish is some final dirt
work and grading around the culvert ends and roadway slopes. We will complete the work
next spring and it will not require any roadway closure,” added Rockwell.
“We increased the size and number of culverts on the Tobar Road to give them
extra capacity in case of flooding or high water. We also widened the road width in the
culvert areas for safety purposes. We very much appreciate everyone’s cooperation during
the construction activities,” Rockwell concluded.
