The Oil & Gas Program manages 2,094 federal oil and gas leases that encompass 4,471,165 acres. In fiscal year 2006 quarterly oil and gas sales offered 1,262 parcels totaling 2,498,832 acres. As a result of these sales, 420 competitive and 223 noncompetitive oil and gas leases have been issued, for a total of 1,439,557 acres.
