Microfiche Data Available For Public Use

The Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is the official keeper of Public Land Records for the United States Government. Land status, cadastral survey and mining claim information is available within each BLM offices geographic area of responsibility. The BLM-Carson City District Office maintains land status records and mining claims in LR2000 and can be accessed by public computers from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, or from your home computers at http://lr2000.blm.gov.

Land status records reveal if lands are Federal, Indian, state or private, when ownership changed and if the lands are currently considered public. Master Title Plats reveal the current public land status and Historic Indexes reveal the history of these lands.

Cadastral Survey Records are also available on microfiche. These are the detailed accounts of when, where and by whom, the lands were surveyed and Townships, Ranges, Sections and Quartersections were established. An excellent source for descriptions of these lands during the westward migration of the United States.
