TRAP SITE WILD HORSE ADOPTION DATES

  • Selection and number of wild horses available will be based on demand prior to the adoption.
  • All wild horse adoption requirements apply, including an approved adoption application.
  • Information about adopting a wild horse, including requirements and application to adopt is available on the National Wild Horse and Burro website at http://www.blm.gov/wo/st/en/prog/wild_horse_and_burro.html.
  • All wild horses available for adoption will be vaccinated, dewormed and Coggins tested.
  • Due to the fluid nature of wild horse gathers, it is essential that potential adopters contact Battle Mountain Field Office to express interest, submit applications and obtain important details as they become available.
  • The adoptions would be conducted through Lottery Drawing, Competitive Bid, or First Come, First Served procedures (based on interest).

  • Base adoption fee is $125.
