Questions and Answers
The Bureau of Land Management Tonopah Field Office is proposing to conduct a wild horse gather to remove excess wild horses in the Reveille allotment and from within the Reveille Herd Management Area (HMA) as needed. The proposal includes the capture of approximately 250 wild horses and removal of 198 excess wild horses. Approximately 52 wild horses would be returned to the HMA to result in a post gather population of 80 wild horses. Fertility control and/or sex ratio adjustment would be applied to released animals in order to slow population growth rates and assist in maintaining wild horse population levels below the established appropriate management level (AML).
