| Date/2012 | Comments | Wednesday, March 7 | Summary: The gather is officially over. The adoption was successful with 2 burros having been adopted. The remaining 6 yearlings that were prepared for adoption along with the other 69 burros were shipped to Ridgecrest CA. The 69 burros will be prepared for adoption, and with the 6 already prepared, will be available from the Ridgecrest Regional Wild Horse and Burro Corrals. | Tuesday, March 6 | Summary: Today was spent separating the yearlings that will be up for adoption from the rest of the wild burros gathered. They were moved into their own corral and the public was able to view them a little more up close and personal. The veterinarian collected blood samples and administered shots and wormer to prepare the 8 wild burros selected for tomorrow's on-site adoption. The other 69 are being fed and watered and are waiting to be shipped to Ridgecrest, CA tomorrow. | Monday, March 5 | Summary: Day one went extremely well. The gather goal was 75 burros and that goal was exceeded by two. This is the last day of gathering but there is still at least two days of holding corral work to prepare for the on-site adoption on Wednesday, March 7. There were no injuries or deaths. Eight burros were selected for the adoption on Wednesday. Animals gathered: 77 (33 jacks, 25 jennies and 19 foals) Animals shipped: 0 Gather related animal deaths: 0 Cause: none Non-gather related animal deaths: 0 Cause: none |
