BLM Soliciting Comments on
Mule Canyon Interim Water Management Plan
The Bureau of Land Management’s Battle Mountain Field Office is asking for public comments on an environmental assessment (EA) that analyzes the impacts of short-term water management treatments at the Mule Canyon Mine, 15 miles southeast of Battle Mountain, Nev., in the northern part of the Shoshone Mountains in Lander County.
The project is to design, construct, and maintain a system to safely convey and manage excess pit lake water. The primary components of the proposed project are the construction of a pipeline and associated evaporation facility and pond for the South Pit and an engineered spillway at the Ashcroft Pit.
The EA will be available for public review starting June 21. Comments should be post-marked or delivered to the BLM Battle Mountain Field Office by 4:30 p.m. on July 25 , 2007, to ensure full consideration. Written comments may be mailed to: BLM, Battle Mountain Field Office, Mule Canyon Mine Interim Water Management Plan, Project Lead Stephen Drummond, 50 Bastian Road, Battle Mountain, NV 89820.
Before including your address, phone number, e-mail address, or other personnel identifying information in your comment, you should be aware that your entire comment–including your personnel identifying information–may be made publicly available at any time. While you can ask us in your comment to withhold your personnel identifying information from public review, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to do so.
