HORSE CANYON ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT AVAILABLE

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Battle Mountain Field Office, is making available for public review, an Environmental Assessment (EA) to analyze environmental effects of Cortez Gold Mines’Horse Canyon/Cortez Unified Exploration Project Amendment. Cortez is proposing to increase the acreage of exploration disturbance from 50 to 250 acres within the previously analyzed Horse Canyon/Cortez Unified Exploration boundary encompassing portions of Lander and Eureka Counties.

The BLM invites the public to express issues or concerns regarding the proposal. To request or submit information, or receive the EA, please contact Pam Jarnecke at the Battle Mountain Field Office, 50 Bastian Road, Battle Mountain, NV 89820, (775) 635-4000. Comments should be postmarked or otherwise delivered to the field office by 4:30 p.m. October 6, 2004, for full consideration.
