BLM SOLICITING PUBLIC COMMENTS ON GEOTHERMAL LEASE APPLICATIONS
The Battle Mountain Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is preparing an Environmental Assessment (EA) to analyze the impacts of leasing geothermal resources near Spencer Hot Springs, Lander County, Nevada. Spencer Hot Springs is located approximately 5 miles southeast of the intersection of Highways 50 and 376. The applicant is Western Geothermal Partners, LLC, Reno, Nevada.
A public meeting will be held on August 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Austin Town Hall (the old Methodist Church). The purpose of the public scoping meeting is to identify issues to be addressed in the EA and potentially viable alternatives that address these issues. Written comments can be submitted at the public meeting or should be postmarked or otherwise delivered by 4:30 p.m. on August 16, 2004, to the following address:
