Red Rock Artist-in-Residence Opening Reception
On July 9, the Red Rock/Sloan Field Office and the Red Rock Canyon Interpretive Association (RRCIA) hosted its first Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area Artist-in-Residence program opening reception. The welcome was given by the BLM Red Rock/Sloan Field Manager Mark Spencer and RRCIA’s Executive Director Blaine Benedict. The Artist in Resident team members are: Graham Wimbrow (RRCIA), Kate Sorom (BLM), Jeanne Tinsman (BLM), and Barb Keleher (BLM) and the artists in residence are Linda Campbell, Maria Arango-Diener, and Myranda Bair.
The reception had an attendance of 75 people who were able to view the artwork and meet each of the artists. The artistic pieces were done with a variety of technique such as wood carving, soft pastels, and water color. Our artists not only are able to display their artwork in the Red Rock Canyon Gallery but also have some of their pieces for sale in the Elements store were proceeds from the sales will go directly into the Artist in Resident program for next year. The Red Rock Canyon Gallery is open every day from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
