Contract Civil Engineer Reviews Plans of Development for Renewable Energy Projects
Project: Hire a contract civil engineer for 1½ years to coordinate the review of plans of development for renewable energy projects. The civil engineer will also ensure a timely review of all proposed projects, and will work with the civil designers who prepare the plans of development to ensure that they have used sound engineering methodology as the criteria to engineer and build these facilities.
ARRA Funding Level: $160,000
February 2, 2011: $160,008 obligated, $85,876 spent.
February 1, 2010: Contract civil engineer started work.
Contracts: The contract was awarded to IIF Data Solutions of Centerville, Virginia.
Completion target date: May 16, 2011
Jobs: One contract civil engineer will review plans of operation for 1½ years.
Local purchases: The civil engineer is purchasing food, fuel and lodging in the Reno-Sparks are for the duration of the contract.
Benefits and Needs: Prior to granting rights-of-way the Bureau is mandated to perform a rigorous review of the construction and operation plans of these facilities.
Background: The BLM Nevada is actively processing applications for rights-of-way on public lands for the construction of solar power generation facilities. During the next two years BLM Nevada anticipates reviewing a minimum of 25 applicants per year from private firms.
